Prepress Requirements

We are Macintosh Based but can use IBM files as well.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail or call.

Applications We Have
QuarkXpress 3.31
Pagemaker 6.5
Adobe Illustrator 6.0
Photoshop 4.0

FONTS
All fonts must be included along with the original file. It is best that you use Postscript fonts but we can use some True Type fonts with no problems. We also have a font library of over 3,000 fonts so we can often match your font if there is a problem.
If you are working with IBM, your fonts will not be compatible and will have to be replaced. The best option is to choose fonts which are "common" to both IBM and Macintosh. Some examples are, Times, Helvetica, Zapf Chancery, or Avante Garde. We are not limited to those choices though.

GRAPHICS
All graphics must be at least 300 dpi at the time of scanning. If your file is less than that, you cannot
change the dpi up to 300. The picture will not be affected and will remain at the lower resolution. Rescanning is necessary to make resolution higher. It is unnecessary to send higher than 300 dpi. This will just create a larger than file needed and slow down the download process.
We need any graphics that you have included in your layout as independent files. You layout programs only give you a "picture" of what you are placing. This means that the actual data is needed to print. We can also make adjustments if needed so that you have the highest quality images possible.

COLORS
We prefer all colors to be separated when receiving a layout. If you are using spot colors, please indicate them within the layout. If your layout is one color, it is fine to send the layout in black. If you are sending 4 color process then you will need all images to be CMYK and all colors within the layout to be set for process separation. If this is confusing or you are having problems just give us a call and we can help you through that process.

DISKS
We accept both floppy disks and zip disks. If you would like your disk returned to you, please put your name and address clearly on the label. Also include any instructions necessary for the completion of your printed work. Disks can be sent to:

EMAIL
When e-mailing your art, it is often a good idea to put all files in one folder and allow any compression programs to compress the whole folder. This avoids corruption in the electronic process. We have Stuffit Expander to be able to decompress files. Please put ATTENTION: Prepress in the subject line. Fax your complete order along with a printed sample to: 574-259-0060 for reference. Send files to: art@caseprinting.com

- AS WE ALL KNOW -
When it comes to computers, one thing might work today, and fail to work tomorrow so if your file does not meet these requirements, please do not hesitate to call. We can often find ways to work around these problems to get your job printed for you!

THANK YOU!
